Madam Susan S. H. Kong (1924 - 2025) |

We are saddened to share that our esteemed Honorary Director, Ms. Susanna Kong, passed away peacefully in Vancouver on the evening of September 24, at the remarkable age of 101.
Over the decades, she held several key positions in the Buddhist community, including Director of TLKY and TLKYCS, as well as serving on the board and executive committee of the Hong Kong Buddhist Association and other Buddhist organizations.
Funeral Service
A Buddhist Sutra Reading and Sharing will be held on
Wednesday, October 8 at 5:00 PM
at Forest Lawn Funeral Home
(3789 Royal Oak Ave., Burnaby, BC)
The ceremony will be led by Venerable Tsang Chit, Abbot of TLKYCS.
Funeral Service will take place the following morning on
Thursday, October 9 at 10:00 AM,
followed by the cremation at 12:00 noon.

Monthly Meditation – Moments of Stillness |

Due to special arrangements, the meditation sessions in October are temporarily suspended.
We encourage everyone to continue their practice of meditation at home.

Scholarship for Spiritual Care and Psychospiritual Therapy Education |
|
To promote professional training in spiritual care and psychospiritual therapy, the Society establishes a scholarship for Buddhist clergies currently enrolled in accredited courses by Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC/ACSS) or other courses approved by TLKYCS.

2025 Dharma Calendar |
|
Our annual Dharma calendar is available for reference. Please check individual event listings for specific times and details.
Starting January 1, 2025, the temple will be closed on Mondays, New Year’s Day (Jan 1), and Christmas Day (Dec 25), except on the 1st and 15th of each lunar month and during Dharma events.
We warmly welcome your presence and participation throughout the year.

Villa Cathay Care Home visited TLKYCS |
|
On September 17, elders from Villa Cathay Care Home visited the Society. Staff and volunteers warmly welcomed them, guiding a tour of the main hall and sharing insights on Buddhist culture and temple architecture. Visitors experienced the peaceful atmosphere of the Dharma centre.
Afterwards, everyone enjoyed a vegetarian lunch prepared with care by the Society.
We appreciate the visit and look forward to welcoming Villa Cathay Care Home again in the future. |

LCSG 24/25 – Leadership Series Class 8: Alumni Sharing |
|
In Lesson 8, Hong Kong LCS alumni shared their Buddhist journeys and experiences with current students. They spoke about applying the Dharma through study and meditation to transform life challenges with compassion and wisdom. The session encouraged everyone to practice together, creating a positive and supportive learning community. |

September Monthly Meditation |
|
On 20 September , the Society held its Monthly Meditation Practice, led by Venerable Hui Tong. The program included chanting, a Dharma talk, walking meditation, and seated meditation. Venerable Hui Tong guided participants to cultivate mindfulness and presence in all activities, helping to calm the body and mind, develop awareness, and deepen precepts, concentration, and wisdom, leading to inner peace. |

Sowing Seeds in Your Mind |
|
Since April, Tung Lin Kok Yuen has been offering the 2025 Sowing Seeds in Your Mind course. Combining hands-on practice with theoretical learning, the instructor guides participants in developing organic farming techniques while reflecting on the relationship between natural ecosystems and sustainable development. |

BDG’s 30th Anniversary Symposium |

On September 3 and 4, the Society hosted a seminar with BDG to celebrate its 30th anniversary, exploring the intersection of AI and Buddhism. Nearly 100 guests attended, including BDG members, Society board members, and monastic and lay participants from Chinese, Theravada, and Tibetan traditions, reflecting a spirit of inclusivity in Dharma sharing. |
