LCSG Public Workshop by anothermountainman

TLKYCS will hold a workshop titled "Painting by God" on 14 September, inviting the renowned Hong Kong designer and contemporary artist Stanley Wong (anothermountainman) to lead the participants to experience from photography our integration of daily living.

Time: 9:30 to 12:30 pm (PDT)

TLKYCS will hold a public lecture on 14 September, inviting the renowned Hong Kong designer and contemporary artist Stanley Wong (anothermountainman) as the speaker. The public lecture is titled "Building a Liveable City." The lecture will explore how a creative person integrate with society.

Sowing Seeds in Your Mind 2024

TLKYCS will organize “Sowing seeds in your mind” gardening courses and invites experienced farmer as instructors. Let the students put their body and mind on nature and learn the knowledge of sustainable development and ecology. In the process of planting, students can also extend the five mindfulness training of Buddhism to our moral relationship with ecology, nurture a sense of gratitude, and understand the wisdom of dependent arising by observing the process and results of planting.

"Pure Lotus Lamp" workshop
"Pure Lotus Lamp" workshop

TLKYCS hosted the "Pure Lotus Lamp" workshop in July. We had respectfully invited Venerable Chi Bun to lead us in using velvet strips to create exquisite lotus lanterns. Through this course, participants had been able to understand the pure and unblemished nature of life, finding serenity and bright happiness in tranquility.

In the 9th session of the LCSG course, Venerable Fa Ren discussed how to apply Buddhist teachings to social service under the theme "Buddhist Care and Social Service: Integrating Buddhist Teachings into Society." Venerable emphasized that Buddhism is not only about personal cultivation but also about serving and caring for others in society.

Sowing Seeds in Your Mind

On 13 and 27 July, TLKYCS held the "Sowing seeds in your mind" planting course. The instructor guided the participants in planting or crop rotation based on the "transformation and succession of soil, plants, and organisms." Through observing the planting process and results, participants gained better wisdom of dependent origination.

On 20 and 25 July, we held the monthly meet-up over zoom, conducting sitting and tea mindfulness practices with SFU participants from the university community.
