"Painting by God" workshop
"Painting by God" workshop

On 14 September, TLKYCS hosted a LCSG public workshop "Painting by God" workshop, featuring renowned Hong Kong visual creator Stanley Wong (anothermountainman) as speaker, attracting many creative enthusiasts, attracted around 20 participants engaging in a simple photography experience. It led participants to be more present and observant, brought up the topic ‘meaning of live now’.

LCSG: "Building a Liveable City”

On 14 September, TLKYCS hosted the LCSG public talk by anothermountainman in the afternoon focused on "Building a Liveable City.” It guided us to reflect on how artistic creation can be integrated into society, with an emphasis on social good and the voice of mindfulness. The event not only sparked limitless creative possibilities but also conveyed key ideas about sustainability and social responsibility.

TLKYCS Brighten Villa Cathay with Music and Joy

To celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, TLKYCS organized a visit to Villa Cathay Care Home, where volunteers brought warmth and care to the elderly. They performed traditional songs celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival using steel tongue drums, filling the room with familiar melodies and a festive atmosphere 🥰. The volunteers also sang together with the elderly, and the event concluded with a sweet and heartwarming performance 🥁. This visit was a meaningful connection for everyone involved.

Sowing Seeds in Your Mind

On 14 and 28 September, TLKYCS held the "Sowing seeds in your mind" planting course. Participants recently harvested and tasted the crops they cultivated, noting the various flavors, while also gaining insight into the wisdom of dependent origination through observing the cultivation process and its outcomes.

On 3 September, we participated the Main Event @ Imagine UBC, introducing ourselves and the University Multifaith Chaplains Association to students and community members. SFU Student Services Fair
SFU Student Services Fair

On 4, 5 & 12 September, we participated in the Student Services Fair at SFU Burnaby, Surrey, and Vancouver respectively, introducing ourselves and the Multifaith Centre to students and community members. Buddhist Spiritual Care Volunteer
Buddhist Spiritual Care is an emerging field of practice and study. Tung Lin Kok Yuen, Canada Society is dedicated to introduce Buddhist spiritual care in healthcare institutions, long-term care facilities, and universities. By integrating Buddhist teachings and practices with professional techniques, we aim to support careseekers when they are going through difficult moments, connecting them with the compassion and wisdom of Buddhism in the community.
