The first episode focuses on our respected teacher Madam Susan Kong, detailing her dedication to studying and teaching Buddhism, along with her significant connection to Tung Lin Kok Yuen in Hong Kong and Vancouver.

Introduction to Buddhism

The vastness and depth of Buddhist teachings make it challenging for beginners to understand and find suitable practices. To support everyone to learn the fundamental knowledge and practices of Buddhism, the Society in collaboration with TLKY in Hong Kong will offer an Introduction to Buddhism course online, we welcome individuals interested in connecting with the Triple Gems and studying Buddhism to register.

Date: From November 16, 2024, every Saturday (except for Jan. 4), for a total of 8 sessions.
Time: 09:30 to 11:00 AM

Chung Yeung Festival Assembly

On 11-13 October, TLKYCS conducted the Chung Yeung Festival Assembly to express our gratitude, dedicating the merits to the well-being of our present parents and the liberation of ancestors and close relatives from the suffering. The Dharma Assembly was solemn and sacred, and the congregation immersed in the joy of the Dharma.

Sowing Seeds in Your Mind

On 19 October, the "sowing seeds in your mind" course was concluded. In preparation for the winter season, the instructor led participants in collecting fallen leaves and caring for planting boxes to create protective layers for the plants. Participants also learned how to assist plants in surviving the winter.

In the Leadership and Communication Skills Global Course (LCSG), we invited the Abbot Ven. Tsang Chit shared insights on the theme of "Decision Making," guiding participants to reflect on making the right choices in their daily lives and workplaces. He emphasized the importance of clarity and composure in decision-making, providing inspiration and guidance for future leadership and life direction.

As part of our community services, TLKYCS established connection with Chénchenstway Long Term Care Home of Providence Health Care. Our volunteers received on-site orientation ahead of future visits which aim to integrate Buddhist care with professional skills to support the residents. Ch'an & Chat: Monthly Meet-ups @ UBC & SFU
Ch'an & Chat: Monthly Meet-ups @ UBC & SFU

On 3 and 26 October, we organized the monthly Ch'an & Chat meet-ups at the UBC Life Building and SFU Burnaby campus, and the online session respectively. Together with the university community, we met for a mindfulness practice, tea & coffee meditation, sharing, and listening to music together.

Buddhist Spiritual Care Volunteer
Buddhist Spiritual Care is an emerging field of practice and study. Tung Lin Kok Yuen, Canada Society is dedicated to introduce Buddhist spiritual care in healthcare institutions, long-term care facilities, and universities. By integrating Buddhist teachings and practices with professional techniques, we aim to support careseekers when they are going through difficult moments, connecting them with the compassion and wisdom of Buddhism in the community.
