Good deeds start from the heart, with the 'Four Blessings' as the path and 'Six Directions' as the practice. Cultivate inner peace like "Aranya" to open the gate of goodness. The Buddha emphasized the 'Four Blessings' to gain virtues, leading to a noble life and blessed future.

The Ten Great Vows of Bodhisattva Samantabhadra
The Ten Great Vows of Bodhisattva Samantabhadra

"For all sentient beings in the Saha world, their actions and thoughts are bound by karma; there is no action without consequence, no deed without its effect." - Ksitigarbha Sutra

In Buddhism, there are three methods of confessing transgressions:

Ritualistic Confession
Repentance following specific rules and guidelines.
Visualized Confession
Continuously bowing before Buddhas and Bodhisattvas for auspicious visions.
Non-abiding Confession
Using the wisdom of Prajna to perceive the emptiness nature of transgressions. Repentance is highly valued in Buddhism. Making mistakes isn't terrifying; the real terror is the lack of repentance for wrongdoings. Esteemed masters teach us to face karma without resentment, genuinely repent, and strive to correct ourselves, avoiding repetition of past misdeeds.

Buddhist Book Sharing
Buddhist Ethics: A Very Short Introduction (2nd Ed.)
Buddhist Ethics: A Very Short Introduction (2nd Ed.)

Buddhist Ethics is a book on what past Buddhist texts and thinkers have to say on some of the most important moral topics present in today’s society. The author prefaces the book by stating that a very basic knowledge of Buddhism will complement the books contents (suggesting the companion book ‘Buddhism: A Very Short Introduction’ by the same author).

Indeed, Damien presents relevant information in a consumable manner to allow readers to understand without needing to look to any other book.

In the book, Damien presents implications of Buddhist thoughts on animals and the environment, sexuality and gender, war and violence, abortion, suicide, and the future of technology. Overall, the book is very enlightening on what the various texts, important persons, and events literally say on each of these topics without attempting to pass judgement. Throughout Buddhist history, many prominent figures have acted on their interpretations of Buddha’s teachings, often with conflicting messages. What should one do in the face of an aggressor who seeks to cause harm to your friends and family? Is a brain chemistry shortcut to enlightenment possible and in the spirit of Buddha’s teachings? These are just a couple of questions this book seeks to shed some light on. Combining ancient recounts of Buddhist history with modern ideas, this book will spark curiosity and deep thinking in any reader.
