Founded in 1994, Tung Lin Kok Yuen, Canada Society was established by Mr. Robert HN Ho, CM, OBC, who carried forward the noble aspirations of his grandmother, Lady Clara Cheung Lin Kok, to spread the Buddhist teachings and practices. A pivotal figure in modern Hong Kong Buddhism, Lady Clara founded Tung Lin Kok Yuen in the urban area in Hong Kong in 1935, alongside a free girl school and a Buddhist society, pioneering teaching and practice of Buddhism in the city. Her vision transcended time and borders, blossoming anew in North America through this Canadian temple.

Located in the urban heart of Greater Vancouver, the temple embodies the vision of  leaving the forest and engaging with city. It upholds the spirit of Chinese Mahayana Buddhism while embracing a multicultural environment, serving as a vibrant hub for spiritual practice and community connection.

Beyond regular Buddhist assemblies and lectures, the Society actively promotes education and philanthropy, bringing the compassion and wisdom of the Dharma to contemporary society and weaving its teachings into everyday practice.

Today’s guided journey invites you to explore the Society from the Buddha Hall to the Ancestral Hall, and from sacred objects to elegant artifacts. Step by step, you’ll discover the thoughtful design of its spaces, the richness of its cultural heritage, and the enduring legacy of faith.

What you see is more than architecture and art—it is a living reflection of the temple’s mission to share the Dharma and its compassionate vision. Let us enjoy each step slowly, following this guided tour with ease and peace.
