佛殿佛龕上方高懸一盞八角宮燈,為1935年樣式,木胎髹漆、貼金雕飾,燈身圖紋有鳳凰、龍與牡丹,象徵吉祥、尊貴與莊嚴。本苑所懸宮燈與香港東蓮覺苑相同,為兩地法脈傳承的具體見證。

宮燈作為殿堂供具之一,不僅具有照明功能,更象徵佛法光明,常設於佛前或殿頂,用以莊嚴法界、表達恭敬供養。佛教儀軌中,「燈」為六種供養之一,代表以光破暗、表法清明。

宮燈兩側懸掛兩面寶蓋佛幡,幡面繡有《阿彌陀經》中六方佛名及中央毗盧遮那佛,繡以蓮華、雲紋等圖飾。佛幡原為遮陽避塵之具,後轉為供佛表法之用,象徵法幢高舉、信願恭敬。

燈與幡同為佛教道場莊嚴用具,設於高處,以靜默形式攝受人心。信眾仰望所見,不僅是工藝與供具,更是信仰的延續與修行的引導。

Above the central shrine in the Grand Buddha Hall, an octagonal palace lantern was hung, crafted in the 1935 style. Fashioned from wood, coated with lacquer, and adorned with gold leaf, it bears intricate carvings of phoenixes, dragons, and peonies, symbolizing auspiciousness, nobility, and reverence. Identical to the lantern at Tung Lin Kok Yuen Hong Kong, it stands as a tangible link in the spiritual lineage between the two temples.

More than an illuminating fixture, the palace lantern embodies the radiant light of the Dharma. Positioned before the Buddha or aloft, it dignifies the sacred space and signifies reverent offering. In Buddhist rituals, the lamp is one of six sacred offerings, dispelling darkness and revealing truth.

On both sides of the lantern, two canopy Buddha banners are suspended, embroidered with the names of the six directional Buddhas from the Amitabha Sutra and the central Vairocana Buddha. Adorned with lotuses and cloud motifs, these banners, originally used for shade and protection, now serve as devotional symbols, proclaiming the Dharma’s eminence and steadfast faith.

The lantern and banners, poised aloft, quietly gather our minds. To the faithful gazing upward, they are not merely craftsmanship or ritual objects but emblems of enduring faith and guides on the path of practice.
